Playing together over Local Wi-Fi

  1. Connect both iPhones to the same Wi-Fi network and use compatible StaxSix versions.
  2. Allow Local Network access when prompted. If it was denied, check iPhone Settings → Apps → StaxSix → Local Network.
  3. On one phone, choose Multiplayer → Host a Game.
  4. On the other, choose Find Nearby Game, then join the host.

The local match does not require internet service. Guest networks that prevent devices from communicating can block a connection. StaxSix does not currently offer internet matchmaking or one-phone pass-and-play.

Common questions

Can I play without Wi-Fi?

Solo and the three AI opponents work offline. Two-player Local Wi-Fi needs both phones on the same local network with Local Network permission.

What happens if I switch to another app?

A multiplayer match may pause when a phone is backgrounded. Return both apps to the foreground on the same network to allow recovery. Recovery depends on the match remaining in memory; force-quitting or restarting the app can lose it. This is not asynchronous play while an opponent is away.

Where can I see older games?

Open Settings → Move History and select a saved game. In-game Move History shows the current game. Records contain committed words, full move points and Pass entries; swaps are not listed. Older games may have only partial records or a summary.

Is Move History a saved game?

No. It is a record of turns for review, not a way to reopen or resume a match.

How do I change my name or mute sounds?

Open Settings to edit your player name or adjust the Sound Effects slider. Name changes apply to future games; your current match retains its starting name.

What does Reset Statistics remove?

It clears recorded statistics after confirmation. It does not clear your name, sound settings or saved Move History. Internal completion identifiers remain to prevent a finished game from being counted again.

How do I learn the rules?

Open How to Play from the home screen or in-game menu for the current rules, controls and scoring explanations.
